First things first, all of the pics are up!
http://picasaweb.google.com/stephenandjordanhuberWell, I know it's been a couple of days, but like I said in an earlier post, if you don't understand that I've been a "little" busy, have a baby!!
Louise and Benny Alley stopped by the hospital before we left to bring a cake and some roses. She's such a sweet lady and has always been so good to us!
Night Number 1 at home wasn't that good. Not good at all. We had this wonderful idea that we were going to "strictly" breastfeed Emma. Well, mother nature is a B sometimes and has her own way of messing up the best made plans! Normally, a newborn isn't hungry and can survive a few days after birth without a lot of food, having colostrum as the only sustenance until the mothers milk comes in. Sometimes, however, the milk doesn't come in when it's supposed to. Not good, baby hungry, baby cry, a lot, a whole lot. After 5 or 6 hours of "troubleshooting", I finally called the emergency hotline and got Dr. Ritch. In a sleepy 2am voice, "Give her 2oz of formula after each breastfeeding." And that was it. Thanks for the manual.
Night #2: 2oz of formula after each breastfeeding. . . we got a total of 7 hours of sleep!! HOLY COW!! Thanks for the manual. . .
Anyway, we're still waiting for the "let down". I think with the pain meds that are drying Jordan up, there's not enough water on earth to keep her hydrated. She's trying to drink it all though!
Finally got some clothes washed, and a 4mi/30min run in today (5/3). Nice break!
Gonna try and get the yard mowed tomorrow. We'll see.
Justin and Angie Haigler, pastor of our church (The Simple Church) and also our neighbor brought us Chili's for dinner tonight. Super good!
We have had TONS of help from family and friends, so don't think we're going this alone. Jordan's mom has been a huge help and blessing, basically living here! Cooking, cleaning, organizing pantries. My mom baby sat this morning while we slept for 3 hours! I felt like a new man! 3 Hours of straight sleep!!
Nene made Chicken and Dumplings and we're having gumbo tomorrow.
In all, we're doing great and Emma is such a blessing that gets better with every minute!
Jordan and I would like to thank our support group of family and friends! Without them, we'd be lost, and stressed to no end! Matt and Carrie (Especially Carrie, for Jordan) have been a HUGE help. I can't tell you how much that means to us! Thank you!
Again, in case you missed it at the beginning, here's ALL of the pics.
