Saturday, May 10

Hey everyone! I figure it's time for another update. Have you ever changed a dirty diaper in the back of an explorer, in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby? I'm sure some of you have a similar hilarious story. All I can say is, thank GOD for changing pads, otherwise the explosion during changing would have ruined the back of the SUV. I don't think we'd EVER get THAT out! Then, to make it even more fun, we ran out of wipes. . . and 4 diapers for a day's outing didn't work out either. Man can she poop!!

Anyway, Melissa Stephens has posted the proofs from Emma's 1 Week Old Photo Shoot. Check them out. They're only available for a week or so. Ain't she just beautiful? (Spoken like a truly proud papa!)

You'll need to go to the "gallery" section and scroll down. On the left column, click on "Emma's" gallery. The password is "Jordan" (Case sensitive too.)

Let us know what you guys think!

Thanks again for all of your support and help! This has been like my fraternity's Hell Week (only MUCH more fun and absolutely no beer!)

Cheers!

Week 1 Update

WE MADE IT THROUGH A WEEK!! HOLY COW!! We got really concerned when Jordan's milk didn't come in and Emma lost 12.26% of her body weight, down from 8lb 9oz to 7lb 8oz (weighed last Friday). Luckily, at Monday's doctor appointment, she was back up to 7lb 15oz!! Outstanding! Anyway, we've only had 2 completely sleepless nights (one being last night). We've been hittin' the town with her all week too! Errands for most of the day Monday, and her first photo shoot and Target shopping trip yesterday! Oooh, that reminds me, I got all of the video edited. Unfortunately, it's too friggin big to post, but I'll post snippets when I can. In the meantime, here's a little 3am "Labor Dance" video for ya. . . gotta have fun somehow!

We're Home!!!

First things first, all of the pics are up!

Well, I know it's been a couple of days, but like I said in an earlier post, if you don't understand that I've been a "little" busy, have a baby!!

Louise and Benny Alley stopped by the hospital before we left to bring a cake and some roses. She's such a sweet lady and has always been so good to us!

Night Number 1 at home wasn't that good. Not good at all. We had this wonderful idea that we were going to "strictly" breastfeed Emma. Well, mother nature is a B sometimes and has her own way of messing up the best made plans! Normally, a newborn isn't hungry and can survive a few days after birth without a lot of food, having colostrum as the only sustenance until the mothers milk comes in. Sometimes, however, the milk doesn't come in when it's supposed to. Not good, baby hungry, baby cry, a lot, a whole lot. After 5 or 6 hours of "troubleshooting", I finally called the emergency hotline and got Dr. Ritch. In a sleepy 2am voice, "Give her 2oz of formula after each breastfeeding." And that was it. Thanks for the manual.

Night #2: 2oz of formula after each breastfeeding. . . we got a total of 7 hours of sleep!! HOLY COW!! Thanks for the manual. . .

Anyway, we're still waiting for the "let down". I think with the pain meds that are drying Jordan up, there's not enough water on earth to keep her hydrated. She's trying to drink it all though!

Finally got some clothes washed, and a 4mi/30min run in today (5/3). Nice break!

Gonna try and get the yard mowed tomorrow. We'll see.

Justin and Angie Haigler, pastor of our church (The Simple Church) and also our neighbor brought us Chili's for dinner tonight. Super good!

We have had TONS of help from family and friends, so don't think we're going this alone. Jordan's mom has been a huge help and blessing, basically living here! Cooking, cleaning, organizing pantries. My mom baby sat this morning while we slept for 3 hours! I felt like a new man! 3 Hours of straight sleep!!

Nene made Chicken and Dumplings and we're having gumbo tomorrow.

In all, we're doing great and Emma is such a blessing that gets better with every minute!

Jordan and I would like to thank our support group of family and friends! Without them, we'd be lost, and stressed to no end! Matt and Carrie (Especially Carrie, for Jordan) have been a HUGE help. I can't tell you how much that means to us! Thank you!

Again, in case you missed it at the beginning, here's ALL of the pics.
